You have watched your video draft. You spot a name that needs to change. A few seconds later, the music feels too loud.
How do you show your editor the exact spots you mean?
At Lana Oliver Productions, we use Frame.io to make this part easy. It lets you watch your video and leave notes tied to a certain time in the film.
To leave a note in Frame.io, open the link from LOP, play your video, and pause where you want a change. Type your note, keep the time stamp on, and click Send. Your note stays linked to that moment.
It is one of the ways we make the video process easier for our clients.
Why LOP uses Frame.io for client feedback
A note like “change the title near the start” can mean more than one thing. Which title? Which part of the start?
Frame.io helps us see the same moment you see. A time stamp is the time shown for a spot in the video, such as 00:24. That means 24 seconds from the start.
A note at 00:24 can say, “Please change my title to Sales Manager.” We can find the right spot and see what you mean.
You do not need to know editing terms. You just need to tell us what you want us to look at.
1. Open the video link from LOP
Open the review link we send you. Choose the video you want to watch if the link shows more than one file.
If the link asks for a passphrase, use the one shared with you. Follow any sign-in steps shown for your link.
You may be asked for your name and email when you post your first note. This helps us know who left it.
The page may look a little different based on your screen and the link settings. If you cannot get in, let us know.
2. Watch the whole draft once
Before you add notes, watch the video from start to finish.
Think about the main goal. Does the video say what you need it to say? Are the names, facts, and next steps right?
Then watch it again to leave notes. This gives you a chance to see the full story before you focus on small parts.
3. Pause where you want a change
Stop the video at the spot you want to discuss. Find the comment box and type your note.
Keep the time stamp turned on when your note is about that spot. Check the time next to the note, then click Send. Pressing Enter can also send it.
Once it posts, make sure your note appears in the comment list. Clicking a posted comment can take you back to the part it points to.
Frame.io explains these tools in its guide to commenting on video.
4. Say what you want to change
A useful note tells us both the problem and the change you want.
For example:
- “Please change the name on screen to Jordan Smith.”
- “Please lower the music here so I can hear the speaker.”
- “Please use the wide shot of the front door at this point.”
- “This phone number is wrong. Please use 225-555-0100.”
These are sample notes, not changes to a real LOP project.
If you are not sure how to fix something, tell us what feels wrong. “This part feels too long” gives us a place to start. You can also tell us what you like so we know what to keep.
Try to put one clear request in each note. That makes each change easier to track.
5. Point to a spot on the screen
Sometimes the time alone is not enough. You may need to show us which word, person, or object you mean.
You can use Frame.io’s drawing tools to circle a detail or add an arrow to your note. These marks help explain your feedback. They do not change the video file.
For a note about a whole scene, you can also select a span of time. Start a comment, drag the handles on the time bar to cover the part you mean, then send it.
These tools are optional. A clear written note at the right time is a good place to start. Frame.io’s comment guide shows the different ways to point out a change.
6. Bring your team’s notes together
If several people need to review the video, choose one person to gather the team’s feedback.
Work out any notes that do not agree. For example, one person may want a shot removed while another wants it kept. Settle that choice before you tell us the notes are ready.
When the team is done, let LOP know the feedback is ready for review. Your project proposal explains the revision rounds and work included.
For more about working with us, see LOP’s video production FAQs.
7. Check the next draft
When LOP sends the next draft, check which file or version you are watching. Review that draft before you add new notes.
If the video is ready and your link has an approval option, use it as directed by LOP. If you do not see one, tell us the name or version of the draft you approve.
If more changes are needed, add clear notes to the current draft.
Common questions about Frame.io review links
Do I need a Frame.io account to leave comments?
Not always. Some review links let you comment as a guest. You may need to enter your name and email. Follow the access steps for the link LOP sends you.
Why can’t I leave a comment?
Comments may be turned off for that link. Ask LOP to check the review settings. If you cannot open the page at all, tell us what message you see.
Can I leave a note about the whole video?
Yes. You can turn off the time stamp for a general comment. Say that the note applies to the full video, such as “Please use the new logo throughout.”
Can I download the video?
Only if downloads are enabled for your link. If you do not see a download option, ask LOP. Also check with us before using a review draft as a finished video.
Can I edit a note after I leave the page?
If you comment as a guest and leave the review session, you may not be able to edit those earlier notes. Add a new note that clearly says which old note it replaces, or ask LOP for help.
Frame.io’s client share-link guide explains access, comments, and download options.
Clear notes help us move your video forward
You know your business. We know the edit. Frame.io gives us a shared place to work through the details.
Our goal is to make it easy for you to show us what needs attention. Pause, leave a clear note, and send it. We will take it from there.
