Each project began with a different challenge: showing a life changed by injury, explaining an incident, or preserving the story of someone who could no longer speak for themselves.

01 / Catastrophic tree injury

Showing the life behind a catastrophic injury.

$5 millionSettlement with one insurer

The challenge

A worker was left paralyzed after a tree accident. The legal file could describe the damages, but the film needed to help viewers understand what happened that day and what the injury meant for him and his family.

What we created

We built the documentary around his interview and incorporated family photos and videos showing his life before the accident. His account was paired with the 911 call and body-camera footage from the responding officers, connecting his words with the recorded events.

His wife’s interview brought the family’s experience into the story: the changes to their marriage, the impact on their children, and the everyday moments that would look different. Together, these perspectives showed the consequences beyond the injury itself.

The outcome

The case reached a $5 million settlement with the first insurer. The claim involving a second insurer was still ongoing at the time of this account.

02 / Trampoline injury

Making an injury’s impact understandable.

The challenge

A father was injured during a visit to a trampoline park with his two daughters. He jumped into a pit where the airbags had not been inflated, fell to the concrete below, and broke his back. His wife injured both ankles when she jumped in after him.

What we created

We interviewed the client and combined his account with security footage, family photos and videos, and a 3D recreation supplied by the attorney. The existing footage helped explain the setting, while the animation helped viewers follow the injury.

We also filmed at places meaningful to the couple, including the courthouse where they married. These scenes and the client’s interview brought the lasting effects on his marriage and everyday choices into the story.

The outcome

The client later told our team that the video helped secure an additional $1.2 million in his settlement. This amount is presented as his reported outcome.

03 / Bus accident

Telling the story when they could no longer tell it.

A case resolvedSettlement shortly after video submission

The challenge

The bus-accident case had been ongoing for four years. The person involved in the accident was deceased, and the person pursuing the case had also passed away. The attorney needed a way to communicate the story without relying on an interview with the people at its center.

What we created

We interviewed family members who knew the people involved and had heard their accounts over the years. We combined these interviews with accident footage, body-camera footage, and family photographs and videos to give viewers context.

Filming at the cemetery showed the family remembering their loved ones and helped communicate how much time had passed. The documentary brought the family’s memories together with the available recordings to explain why resolving the case mattered to them.

The outcome

The case settled shortly after the video was submitted.

04 / Slip and fall

Showing what an injury took from retirement.

The challenge

A recently retired university librarian was looking forward to travel and time with friends. A slip-and-fall injury severely affected her ankle and, alongside other health conditions, changed her daily life and retirement plans.

What we created

We reviewed the store’s security footage and highlighted the staff response after the fall. This gave viewers a way to follow what happened beyond the client’s description alone.

We filmed her at Southeastern, where she had worked for years, and captured footage of her walking through a place closely connected to her life. That setting helped establish who she was and gave context to the changes she described.

The outcome

The case settled quickly after the video, with an additional $30,000 added to the settlement. This was Lana Oliver Productions’ first mediation-video project.
